The Psychidae (bagworm moths, case moths also simply bagworms or bagmoths) are a family of the Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths).

We can see the bagworm inside the case made of dry twigs

The caterpillar larvae of the Psychidae construct cases out of silk and environmental materials such as sand, soil, lichen or plant materials. These cases are attached to rocks, trees or fences while resting or during their pupa stage, but are otherwise mobile.

Since bagworm cases are composed of silk and the materials from their habitat, they are naturally camouflaged from predators. Predators include birds and other insects.

Bagworms occur during monsoons and a little post monsoons. Come for our trails in August / September in and around the Aravalli Range to witness these mysterious creatures. They might also prefer varied habitats like wetlands etc.
